Miscarriage of JusticeGood Read “Very well written. It was an entertaining read and kept the suspense throughout the book. A few parts may not be feasible in real life, but it made great drama for the story. Would definitely recommend if you like crime and suspense stories." by WCSO Warden – Apple Masterful Page-Turner “This story was one of the quickest reads I've experienced in the last year. The reason was because I simply couldn't put it down. The main characters were both believable and their motivations were well-developed. There were also enough red-herrings to keep me guessing about the next move on the parts of Ethan and Mariana and I could not have guessed where they would wind up. I never saw the end coming! that made it all the more worthwhile of the time I spent reading it. You are quite the storyteller. I look forward to reading more of your well-crafted books." by Gary L. Sometimes it seems I read the same plot, story line and characters over and over again. Usually I can get a "feel" of where the book is going and how it will end. This was one book I could not. I was amazed and delighted to find a unique surprise ending. I loved the building and growth of the two main characters throughout the book. Thoroughly enjoyed this book." by Anonymous - Barnes & Noble “Great twist at end. Fast moving." by Anonymous - Barnes & Noble “Well, that was a little different twist... very interesting." by Anonymous - Barnes & Noble “I have mixed feelings about this book. This book is about a man who serves a prison sentence, not being guilty. And the DA knows that she sent an innocent man for 15 years to prison. When he has done his time, he decides to take revenge on the DA. The first few chapters give you the necessary information about the situation and the main characters. Then the story develops and, although at times good, this part is a bit "too much of the same". Then, suddenly, in the second half, the story becomes good and even very good. It leads to a turn and a good climax close to the end of the book. And, in the last chapter, there is another surprise. That is all I can say without giving away the story. Furthermore, several events are very unlikely or even impossible. Because the first half is, in my opinion, not very good (too slow and "too much of the same"), but the author takes revenge on his readers in the second half, I give the book three stars." by Rene Hasekamp - GoodReads Surprise ending “I have enjoyed the Wynn Garrett books by the author and also OVER MY DEAD BODY; so when I saw he had another one out I read the 1st two chapters and was hooked. The book keeps your interest. I had to keep reading because I was championing for the good guy; which a good author and Bruce is-keeps you guessing if you are championing the right guy. This is a book I would recommend to you if you are looking for a good suspense story without a lot of graphic description." by readmore - Amazon JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED, OR HAS IT? “MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE by Bruce Borders is a good read about a man who was convicted and served 15 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit. Ethan Rafferty was 25 years old. He had a wife and two small children when he went for a walk one night and two people seen him walking by a house where a young girl was just after being killed. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. During the trial, the overzealous District Attorney, Mariana Clark discovered evidence that would have exonerated Ethan, but, it was a high profile case and she wanted to make a name for herself by winning, so she suppressed the evidence. Ethan went to prison. It was in prison he discovered that the DA knew he was innocent. He's had 15 years to devise his pay back. He don't just want to kill her, he wants her to suffer. Over the weeks and months, Ethan is having fun by tormenting the DA mentally and emotionally. She can't go to the police because then she'd have to admit her wrongdoing in the beginning. She needs to end this shadow hanging over her head, so she strikes a deal with a hardened criminal to take Ethan out. It's a great story and I enjoyed it, but there wasn't much action and hardcore suspense. Still and all, a good read and I'd recommend it." by RJ Parker TOP 1000 REVIEWER – Amazon “This is a wonderful piece of fiction. It has the qualities that every piece of fiction should have: snagging the reader immediately and keeping the reader interested in “what happens next?" In other words, a real page turner. Over My Dead BodyWhat would you do? “This is a parent's nightmare, having their child forcibly taken away, when they didn't do anything. It's quite a scary thought that when you're dealing with someone in power and they want to make you pay, they can do it in the most awful way. This is the type of story you start reading and your mind comes up with where you think it's going, you come up with ideas and then realize nope, so you discard those, keep reading and start trying to figure it out again. It's definitely a story that will keep you reading wondering where it is going and how the family is going to survive this scary ordeal... how deep is the corruption. There were some interesting twists. I found Keri's role to be an interesting twist. An interesting read." by Maggie Thom - Amazon What Would You Do? “What would you do if a corrupt social worker sent local officials to your door to take your child away based on trumped up charges? This fast paced suspense story is sure to keep turning its pages as this skillful author unveils corruption of the powerful and injustice in a system that is controlled and can be manipulated by those in authority. Jeff Blake and his family are living the nightmare. Looking for a well-written tale of suspense that is sure to give readers pause for thought? OVER MY DEAD BODY fits the bill!" by Bette A. Stevens - Amazon Suspenseful “Well written book with interesting characters and plot. The main character accused of murder is very believable with his emotions and actions. At first I had difficulty with the role of the nurse, but has the story unfolded I was able to accept her actions. And I am speaking as a retired nurse who was trained in knowing about patient-nurse boundaries. This is a book that I would highly recommend." by Karen Ingalls - Amazon Exciting Adventure “I really enjoyed this book. It moves at a very fast pace and I was hooked from the first few pages. I found the subject matter very unsettling. I have seven daughters and the thought of anyone wrongly trying to take my children away from me, leaves me angry to say the least and as I read, I was feeling this anger on behalf of the main character. This is testimony to the quality writing of the author. The dramatic events of the first part of the book are followed by a court case and I love courtroom dramas, especially where an underdog is trying to right an injustice. The writer conveys a good understanding of the legal issues but doesn't drown us in legal talk. I am a Brit and I suspect reactions from Brits and Americans may be slightly different. We simply don't have the gun culture prevalent in the USA and so the events would seem rather more improbable than to a US audience. There would also probably be intense discussion over the moral implications of shooting innocent police officers no matter the provocation. I prefer to suspend disbelief and remind myself it is fiction, which makes some important points about abuse of power and the importance of family. At the end of the day, nothing is more important than our family and in particular our children. Personally, as I said at the outset, I loved the book, but given the subject matter, vital to that enjoyment was the fact it has a happy ending!" by Bill - Amazon Fast-Moving and Enjoyable “As a parent, Over My Dead Body really got me thinking. The idea that CPS could possibly take my child away--even though I had done nothing wrong is beyond frightening! Bruce Borders' tale of Jeff Blake's journey to protect his family is as enjoyable as it is fast-moving. Not only is this book very well written, but the characters and story held my interest. I highly recommend this book and I'm very much looking forward to reading other works by this author in the future." by Donna Manobianco - Amazon WOW! Need I Say More? “When I initially looked at the cover of this book, I said to myself, “Self, you are not going to like this book.” With the guy standing there holding the shotgun, I just knew it was some kind of new-day Western (totally not my kind of read). But, since I had seen the name Bruce A. Borders floating around social media, and since he seemed to be very supportive of others, I took a “looksie” inside. After the Copyright page there is a line that reads, “Is it murder if you’re protecting your daughter?” Well, I love daughters, you all know that, so my “hooking” began there. I turned another page…the first page of Chapter One, ACTION! I like action so I continued on. After reading the complete Chapter One, all I could say was “WOW! I have to finish this now!” But, before I personally got into the book, I knew that my Dad would enjoy this type of read, so I called him and told him about the book and that I KNEW he would really, really love it. I purchased the book directly from the author (as CERTAIN books I like autographed copies of). He (my Dad) finished the book in a couple of days flat! Bruce A. Borders' writing was captivating. You hear people all the time say, “I was hooked from the very first page!” Well, with this book, you really are. I recently finished reading “OVER MY DEAD BODY” and let me tell you, the writing was so “real” and so “believable” that I can’t stop thinking about how these things really do, and can happen…to any of us. I often say to my daughters, “When you awake each morn and walk out your door, you never know what your life will be that day.” OVER MY DEAD BODY will forever have you thinking this very same thought. A father goes to work one day as he typically does, and then leaves work that day not knowing that when he returns home, his life and that of his wife and child’s will be forever changed because of the events which happen next. I don’t DO spoilers, but what I do DO, is tell people when they should run out and get GREAT READS! This would be one of those times! Now RUNNNNNNN!" by Nonnie Jules - Rave Reviews A parent's worst nightmare “Start this book on a weekend because you will be rooted to it. The first chapter starts with a punch and there are twists and turns all the way through. Amidst the excitement and action is a poignant tale of a family trying to stay together, deal with the legal system and the bureaucracy. It highlights the fact that the very laws that are supposed to protect us, end up destroying precious relationships that survive even through hard times. It’s a parent’s worst nightmare come true and is something everyone can relate to. A well written book." by Amazon Customer - Amazon Great Read “I was interested from the first to the last page. And Bruce knows all the legal jargon that helped me to understand the judicial process. It was easy to follow the characters and the writing was thoughtful and well-written. The plot was exceptional. It was a good read. Once I got into the story it was really hard to put it down because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. It is a triumph of good over evil. Good job Bruce. I recommend this book highly. I really do." by S. Slaughter - Amazon Fast paced novel and gripping courtroom drama “It is a meaty fast paced novel escalating with an amazing courtroom drama. Jeff's lawyer is amazing throughout and once you begin you will not be able to put this down. It hooks you in right from the start. Recommended to all." by Lisa Jones - Goodreads/AmazonUK Every parent's worst nightmare! “Author Bruce A. Borders captured my attention in Over My Dead Body immediately with Jeff Blake being on the receiving end of a barrage of bullets on the first page. ‘And what are you going to do?' the worried woman asked nervously. ‘You can't stop them all. Those are cops!' Jeff Blake is threatened by the head of CPS that if he doesn't give him the inside information on investment trading, he will have Blake's three-year-old daughter removed from the home. Suddenly two police officers are dead along with a CPS worker. This story is every parent's nightmare. How easy it would be for someone to falsify records and suddenly your child is about to be taken away from you. Mr. Borders takes on the moral dilemma of what a parent might do to save their child from being forcibly removed from its home when they know the charges are false. I have no idea what I would do had I been placed in the same position of character Jeff Blake. I don't think I could just sit back and allow my child to be taken from me. The book is well written and the characters engaging. This book was a fast read for me. I just couldn't put it down. I wanted to know what happened in the next chapter and the chapter after that. I look forward to reading more of Mr. Borders' books." by Kathryn Treat - Amazon Couldn't put it down “I purchased this book after reading a 5 star review on someone's blog. I never would have purchased it otherwise as the cover didn't appeal to me. However, I was not disappointed. From the first few pages I was hooked. It kept me turning until the last page. Although I had unanswered questions around the motivation of the CPU character to take the drastic steps he did I thought this was a great read. I have actually purchased a second of this authors books and am about to read. A book most of us can relate to as once we have our own children, the scenario that is covered by this story is surely all of our worst nightmare. The book is well written and difficult to put down. It brought out in me the already deep feeling that many government departments are badly run and places that are used for personal gain much more than ensuring the very people that should benefit from them are ignored. I have felt that as pay is mostly low in these establishment good quality people can not be attracted. At the end of the book I was certainly not sorry that I choose it." by Dieter Rudolph - Amazon Fast Paced Read “Over My Dead Body is an incredibly fast paced book that is as suspenseful as it is exciting. The JourneyGreat tale of teenage angst “Read this after reading Bruce Border's book "Over my dead body" and reading the preview. It didn't disappoint. Easy to relate to. A story of a teenage boy who never feels good enough for his dad who longs to be living by his own rules and not feel inadequate or put down. The author does a brilliant job of narrating the story from the teenagers point of view and maintaining interest, tension and drama at the same time as containing reflection and recording insight. Loved the story and will be reading more from this author." by Jenny Hayworth - Amazon Page turner “The authors ability to spin a tale so believable with twists and turns in the plot that have you turning the pages without realizing how much you have read. Wynn Garrett Series -Mistaken Identity
Absolutely loved it! “Absolutely loved it! The authors cynical humor comes through on every page!" by Anonymous - Barnes & Noble Reading the whole Series “I never really liked to read much but these books are really cool!" by Anonymous Review Judicial ReviewThis is my favorite of the series
“These books are like modern day westerns. Wynn Garrett is the cowboy hero and terrorists are the outlaws. I like all the humor, some of it is obvious but some of it is very subtle." by Anonymous Review Simply Great
“Bruce A. Borders has written a fabulously, entertaining story, 'Safety Hazard'. His lead character, Wynn Garrett, an off-the-books assassin for a special group within the U.S. government, is a great character that Mr. Borders has developed in a series of books. He uses Wynn as a vehicle for his own wit, and does it very well. The story about terrorists planning to bomb a new train is action packed with plenty of humor along the way to keep it light. If you like thrillers with interesting characters put in cleverly developed situations, you will enjoy reading this book. I plan to read more of Bruce Borders' books. I strongly recommend 'Safety Hazard'." by Kenneth J. Kerr - Amazon |
Inside Room 913Bruce has done it again! “Bruce Borders has written another really good book that can be read in one sitting. The reason I start with that comment is to prepare you for the inevitable. You will not be able to put it down once you begin. Cynthia Holt, an eighteen year old, goes to work at Parkview Manor, an assisted living facility, formerly Parkview Sanitarium, a former mental institution. She is given her job duties the first day of work, and informed that she is never to disturb the person in Room 913 and never to discuss Room 913 with any of the other employees or residents of the facility. Cynthia becomes obsessed with discovering the mystery of Room 913. Against instruction, and under threat of being fired, she learns many conflicting stories about Room 913 from other employees and residents. The story takes many twists and turns until it reaches the great final twist. Bruce Borders is a master storyteller, and I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense, an easy read, and a fascinating story." by Kenneth J. Kerr - Amazon A Gripping Read “Inside Room 913 is a mysterious tale which follows a young girl, Cynthia, as she starts her first proper job at Parkview Manor. A former sanatorium, the now assisted living facility seems to Cynthia to be the perfect place to work. All she needs to do, is help the residents with any chores they need done, oh, and not ask any questions about the guy who lives in room 913. A sealed room on the top floor of the facility, anyone who delves too deeply into its occupant and his mysterious circumstances finds themselves fired. Cynthia wants to settle in, but she can't shake her curiosity about the mysterious room. The story is gripping and keeps you as intrigued as its protagonist; hearing various outlandish stories about the hermit who resides in the hotel. If you're looking for a quick read with various twists and turns, I really recommend this story." by Clare Curran - Amazon “Inside Room 913 started as a story promising to be like the house of horrors. The anticipation was heightened, and the suspense was building up. Cynthia was behaving very strangely, not at all like a worker on her first days at work, but a curious worker turned detective. I kept wondering why no one was telling her to mind her business and just do her work. Then the turn of events happened, unexpected turn in fact, and everything started to fall into space. What I believed was her meddling had bothered me throughout until toward the end of the story, especially her constant repetition of Room 913. In the end, I was surprised at how the story ended, and relieved there was no blood letting. The story is well written." by Joy Nwosu Lo-Bamijoko - Amazon Inside Room 913 is a winner “Inside Room 913 kept me turning pages. A very enjoyable read.
